Getting there
How to get to Mont-Saint-Michel from Paris
Train and shuttle, the coach option, and what each actually takes.

The most direct public-transport route is a TGV from Paris-Montparnasse to Rennes, roughly 1.5–2 hours, followed by a connecting bus to the Mont-Saint-Michel visitor area, typically a little over an hour. Tickets for both legs can be booked through SNCF Connect. Door to door, allow three to four hours each way.
Pontorson is the closest station
Pontorson, about 9 kilometres from the rock, is the nearest railway station, reached by regional train from Caen or via Dol-de-Bretagne from Paris, with a bus for the last stretch to the Mont. It suits travellers overnighting nearby more than a single-day return from Paris.
Coach day trips exist, and run long
Single-day coach excursions from Paris cover the round trip in one booking, but given the distance they are inevitably long days — typically out before dawn and back late. A two-day trip with a night in Pontorson, Beauvoir or on the Mont itself spreads the same distance over a far more comfortable pace.
From Caen and Saint-Malo
Drivers coming from Caen should allow roughly an hour and a half; from Saint-Malo it's closer to an hour; from Bayeux, about as long as from Caen.
Where you actually park
Every visitor, whatever the route, ends up at the mainland car parks roughly 2.5 kilometres from the rock — there is no parking at the foot of the Mont itself, part of the project to give the Mont back its maritime setting. From there it's the free shuttle or the walk across the bridge.
